Mr Yassir Iqbal is a Consultant Cardiac and Aortic Surgeon at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, London. His clinical practice encompasses adult cardiac surgery with a particular interest in complex aortic surgery, including acute aortic dissection, aortic root and ascending aortic surgery, arch replacement and frozen elephant trunk procedures. His wider practice includes coronary artery bypass grafting, arterial revascularisation, aortic valve and root surgery, endocarditis and combined cardiac procedures.

Alongside his clinical practice, he has a strong interest in surgical education, quality improvement and the development of digitally enabled cardiac surgical pathways. His current work includes aortic surveillance, perioperative pathway optimisation and the application of artificial intelligence and clinical decision-support tools to aortic and cardiac surgery. He is actively involved in undergraduate and postgraduate education and is committed to improving patient outcomes through innovation, multidisciplinary collaboration and evidence-based surgical practice.
