Annual Meeting - Code of Conduct

The Society for Cardiothoracic Surgery in Great Britain and Ireland (SCTS) is an inclusive professional organisation for all healthcare professionals involved and interested in cardiothoracic surgery.

We welcome you to the SCTS Annual Meeting 2025 which has an exciting and thought-provoking programme. The programme includes updates on cutting-edge advances, research and innovation, training, and networking and social events.

The SCTS promotes an environment of respect, fairness, integrity, and inclusiveness. Every delegate deserves to be treated with respect and dignity.

Delegates attending the meeting must agree to comply with the SCTS Code of Conduct. This code requires delegates to respect one another and avoid engaging in any form of bullying or harassment. The Society will not tolerate any form of bullying or harassment based on age, gender or gender identity, ethnicity, race, religion, sexual orientation, physical or intellectual disability, marital status, or any protected status.

Bullying and harassment may be in a verbal or physical form. It includes, but is not limited to, derogatory or demeaning comments, taunting, inappropriate jokes, inappropriate media posts, emails and text messages, unwanted physical contact, intimidation, stalking, or the use of abusive language.

Any delegate who believes they have been the subject of, or witnessed, any form of bullying or harassment should report this to the SCTS Meetings Team or senior SCTS Executive for appropriate action.

The SCTS Meetings Team has put together this exciting programme for the benefit of all delegates and wishes everyone has an enjoyable and fulfilling experience.
