Pectus Matters

New Charity

SCTS is proud to present the Best Practice Guideline for Pectus surgery which is a comprehensive guideline with compelling evidence for the care of  patients with all forms of pectus including excavatum and carinatum, with physiological impairment and with psychological impairment.

We encourage all units to read this document to understand the referral pathway to the national MDT (email: bartshealth.pectus.mdt.sbh@nhs.net) and local units that can assess these patients.

NHS England already mandate that all patients who are short of breath with Pectus Excavatum must have lung function, an echocardiogram, a CT thorax and an exercise tests and be presented to the National MDT and our guideline fully support this. In addition our guideline supports all conservative therapies and also the signposting to the new charity
