Akshay Jatin Patel


McCormack Medal

 

Akshay commenced his specialist training in Cardiothoracic surgery in 2014 in the West Midlands Deanery. In 2022, he was awarded his PhD for his work in lung cancer immunobiology. Currently, he is a sixth year registrar in Thoracic Surgery in the West Midlands deanery.

 

This medal was originally created in 1982 in the memory of Mr R J M McCormack, former Vice President of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, and is awarded annually to the candidate attaining the highest mark in the Intercollegiate Specialty Examination in Cardiothoracic Surgery. 


The President of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh would therefore present you with the medal at a College Diploma Ceremony.
