FARSTER-care Trial

FARSTER-care is an NIHR-funded research examining an accelerated recovery pathway after cardiac surgery using a median sternotomy.

The research details are displayed on the attached slide.

Many centres have already expressed interest in participating in this UK-wide multi-centre RCT and we need all centres to join us in this study that will define postoperative recovery after cardiac surgery in the current era. The per patient cost is sizeable and the research delivery requiring collaborative working with our cardiac rehab teams, should be straightforward. Patient recruitment will start in January 2024.

To enrol your centre, please email either: the Chief investigator's (Prof Dumbor Ngaage's) PA at lisa.leak@nhs.net, or York Trials Unit at farstercare-trial-group@york.ac.uk
