About the role:

Working as part of a small team, the Education Course Administrator is responsible for developing and ensuring the successful delivery of all aspects of the SCTS educational course portfolio both online and in-person. This includes organising each course from pre-advertisement, application processes, registration, venue, catering, accommodation through to post-course feedback.  This will require supporting the online courses and some occasional attendance in-person.

The post holder will also be required to coordinate the SCTS Education sub-committee meetings which will include producing agendas and papers, as well as attending and minuting the meetings that mostly take place in the evenings, 3 or 4 times a year.

In this varied and interesting role, the post holder will be organised and proactive, with great communication skills enabling you to liaise regularly with stakeholders and colleagues within the department to ensure the successful delivery of our activities. You will be self-motivated and able to effectively prioritise a varied and substantial workload.

 

About you:

Although experience would be preferred, the priority is that we are looking for a highly organised team player who can demonstrate the ability to deliver relevant multi-tasking course organisation and administration. You must also be a proactive, innovative, team-worker with good communication skills who can work collaboratively with many stakeholders. 

Willingness to learn new skills and software is key and experience with finance and accounting software such as Xero is beneficial.

The role will require travel and overnight stay once a year to support the team with our Annual Meeting across the UK and Ireland.

 

About us:

The Society for Cardiothoracic Surgery (SCTS) is a professional society for all healthcare professionals involved and interested in cardiothoracic surgery.

 

This role supports the main purpose of advancing science in the field of cardiothoracic surgery for the benefit of the public by encouraging and promoting excellence in the practice of cardiothoracic surgery.

 

The SCTS Education team is responsible for overseeing the education of the members of the society and has developed, over the past few years, a comprehensive portfolio of courses for all categories of professionals including Consultants, Medical Practitioners, Nationally Appointed Surgical Trainees, Trust appointed doctors and Nurses and Allied Health Professionals.

The team work flexibly from home and on site at least one day a week (but more will be required for initial training) at our office based in the Royal College of Surgeons of England in Central London.
