As a part of the SCTS Annual Meeting 2022 we will be holding a sponsored run, encouraging participants to run 5K and help raise awareness of cardiovascular diseases. Heart Valve Voice and SCTS are inviting delegates of the SCTS meeting to come together and participate in a virtual run to raise money for awareness-raising activities across the UK.

Despite effecting millions of people in the UK, awareness of cardiovascular diseases remain slow, so your fundraising will help to improve awareness of this common, serious, but treat-able conditions, and save lives. The event is aimed at anyone affected by heart valve disease, not just people attending theS CTS meeting. As part of the virtual run, Heart Valve Voice patent advocate and Olympic athlete Roger Blackwill be producing a ‘Runner's Guide’, drawing on his wealth of experience to help runners prepare for race day.

Roger Black said: “I’m delighted to support Heart Valve Voice and SCTS in this great initiative. Having lived with heart valve disease since I was a child, I know the importance of raising awareness of the condition and the support clinicians offer to pa-tients during their treatment, like myself. I’m wishing all the participants good luck with the run and hope everybody has a great time.”

Heart Valve Voice Executive Director, Wil Woan, said: “Thank you to SCTS for partnering with us on this exciting event. Events like this provide a platform to raise awareness of thecondition and the importance of recognising red flag symptoms. The money raised will enableus to deliver information and resources to more patients and support them and their families through their treatment pathway."
