Shared Decision Making Survey

Centre for Perioperative Care (CPOC) of the Royal College of Anaesthetists is a cross-specialty collaboration dedicated to the promotion, advancement and development of perioperative care for the benefit of patients at all stages of their surgical journey

In 2021 the Professional Records Standards Body (PRSB) convened a working group to draft a standard for shared decision making.  CPOC Strategy, identifies shared decision as a key workstream under ‘Theme Two: Empowering Patients.’ CPOC has been involved in this work from the outset as a key partner.

The draft standard was developed to align with the GMC guidance on shared decision-making and consent, as well as the NICE guidelines on shared decision-making, and is available on request. NHS England has now commissioned PRSB to complete the development and this process is underway. The final draft standard is due for completion by Spring 2022.

The PRSB are now inviting stakeholders to take part in an online consultation to review the draft standard.

We request members to partake in the Shared Decision Making Draft Standard Survey  to ensure the PRSB and CPOC can gather as much feedback as possible on the draft standard. The deadline for responses is 18 March 2022.
