President Mr Simon Kendall taking over as Medical Director

President Mr Simon Kendall is the Medical Director NHSEI, North East, Cumbria and Yorkshire.

We are delighted to announce our President Mr Simon Kendall will be taking over as Medical Director NHSEI, North East, Cumbria and Yorkshire (Professional Standards and System Improvement) overseeing the strategic delivery of all health services in the region including cardiothoracic services. His wide experience, both as a cardiothoracic surgeon and officer of the SCTS over the years, will add value to this important role.



Simon has finally hung up his gloves after an illustrious career of 27 years as a Consultant Cardiothoracic Surgeon in James Cook University Hospital, personally delivering 6,700 cardiac cases, and 1,500 thoracic cases, of which 40% were training cases. His career spans all aspects of cardiothoracic surgery and particularly mitral surgery. He is recognized for his passion for training and is a recipient of the EACTS Leonardo Da Vinci award. In addition Simon was a mentor and trainer for left handed surgeons.
