CLINICAL RESEARCH FELLOW ST3+ in Cardiac Surgery University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and dynamic individual to apply for ​the role of a Clinical Research Fellow to work in the Cardiac Surgery Service within ​the University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust/ University of Leicester partnership. This is an opportunity to undertake world class research in a large academic cardiac surgery centre. The post in 50:50 clinical:research allowing the fellow to maintain their operative skills, as well as to develop key research skills.

The research group, led by BHF Chair of Cardiac Surgery Professor Gavin Murphy, undertakes a wide range of research studies including experimental medicine, systems biology, data science, and pragmatic clinical trials. The post is suitable either for someone who has a higher degree who will start at lecturer equivalent, or for someone hoping to undertake a higher degree.

The clinical role is based at the Glenfield Hospital, one of the largest specialist cardiac centres in the UK providing cardiothoracic surgery to people of all ages. The 28 bedded ICU hosts one of the largest ECMO centres in the UK.
