NLCA Consultant Outcomes Audit now available

We are pleased to inform you that the full Lung Cancer Clinical Outcomes Publication (LCCOP) report is now available on our website, following the recent publication of the 2018 data tables in May 2021. The report offers a more detailed picture and provides recommendations based on the data.

  • This year the data reported the highest number of lung cancer operations and the highest survival rate since the inception of the LCCOP audit. The data highlights a continuing increase in minimally invasive surgery.
  • Despite the positive findings, 41% of patients were readmitted to an NHS hospital within 90 days of surgery, and this is an area for further investigation.
  • The outlier measures were consistent with previous years, 30-day and 365-day survival, and no surgical units were found to be negative or positive outliers.

The National Lung Cancer Audit is proud to deliver this report in partnership with the Society for Cardiothoracic Surgery. We are hugely appreciative of the thoracic surgical community for engaging in our reporting process during such pressured circumstances.

We request that you share this report among relevant colleagues at your organisation.
