Senior Consultant Thoracic Surgeon and Senior Honorary Lecturer at the University of Leeds.

I completed my Cardiothoracic training in Cape Town, South Africa. Developed an early interest in pathology of the lungs and oesophagus. 

I was succesfully apointed as a Thoracic Consultant in Leeds in 2001.

I spearheaded the development of the thoracic Department in Leeds into a large regionla and international Centre and served several years as the Lead Clinician and Clinical Director.

Introduced several programs to the Department inlcusing minimally invasive surgery in 2006.

I have served as a member of the European Society's council since 2008 and became the Treasurer in 2009 and held such position until 2017 when i was awarded the Presidency of the European Society of Thoracic Surgeons.

I have served as a member of several internationla Societies and reviewer on peer reviewed journals. 

I have published over 75 papers in peer reviewed journals and provided over 150 lectures internationally.
