Nominations for new Trainees' trustee


The Society is inviting applications from current senior trainees to serve as the trainee elected trustee.  All qualifies applications will be voted upon by SCTS NTN trainee members, with the elected candidate serving as a trustee for a period of 3 years.

Trustees sit on the Society Executive.  With the other trustees, they are legally responsible for the running of the Society under UK charity law.  It is therefore a crucial role within the Society’s senior leadership, with the opportunity to shape the policy and direction of the Society.  The successful candidate will become the voice of NTN trainees within in the Society’s senior leadership group.

To be eligible to apply, you must be;

-A current trainee (NTN) member of the Society in good standing.

-In their sixth year of training or above (ST6 or equivalent).

-Have already spent 5 years in cardiothoracic surgery.

The successful candidate will need to be eligible to serve as a charity trustee in UK law, and so they should check that they meet the Charity Commission’s requirements, available here https://www.gov.uk/guidance/charity-trustee-whats-involved-cc3a#before-you-start---make-sure-you-are-eligible.
