New NHS England commissioned pathway for Pectus deformities

SCTS is pleased to announce that NHS England has announced a new commissioned pathway for Pectus patients with severe disease.

All patients with pectus problems should be referred for Pectus Care to the most local thoracic surgery or paediatric centre who has a pectus service. These centres will be able to identify patients who might be severe and will often need to perform some specialised tests to establish this diagnosis. These centres will then present the patients to the National MDT and if suitable for surgery the operations will be performed at the 1st national NHS pectus centre which is St.Bartholomews Hospital in London.
