This week, we are celebrating International Womens Day 2022 to recognise all our excellent female colleagues; past, present and future.
The achievements and milestones of women in our specialty have often been overlooked and so as part of celebrating the achievements of all the women in cardiothoracic surgery in the UK and Ireland, we present an updated timeline of the contributions of women to cardiothoracic surgery over the years (below). We are dedicated to supporting, encouraging and inspiring more women into our specialty and call upon all SCTS members to come together to #BreakTheBias.
