COVID-19 and Annual Meeting

Further to the unavoidable cancellation of the SCTS 2020 annual meeting, the Cardiothoracic community is engaged with the wider NHS force to manage the COVID-19 crisis.
The meeting as usual had been designed to incorporate a wide ranging educational and scientific programme with speakers from all over the world. For the first time two plenary sessions were arranged for ALL delegates to attend. Furthermore the event included social programmes including a 5k charity run, Welsh choir and Gatsby themed gala dinner.
A record number 501 abstracts were submitted of which 426 were accepted for presentation. We have produced an electronic publication of all the accepted abstracts which can be downloaded here.
Following a great deal of deliberation, we took the difficult decision to cancel the meeting as early as possible to provide speakers, presenters, exhibitors and delegates as much time to make plans and minimise costs to all.
We are grateful for your continued support and, following negotiations, will be able to hold the next meeting from 7th to 9th of February 2021 at ICC Wales. It is a truly outstanding venue and we hope that we will be able to offer an enriching educational event.
If you had registered and paid to attend the 2020 meeting and have not yet requested a refund, you can transfer your registration to the new meeting. There is no need for you to take any further action. If you are uncertain about your ability to attend, please contact Tilly Mitchell (tilly@scts.org) who will be happy to organise a refund for you.
