Success is not the work of one, but the work of many
We are seeking a suitably qualified cardiologist who can contribute to development of our expanding cardiology service.
A specialist with skills and experience in general cardiology as well as cardiac imaging and/or pacemaker implantation is desired to complement our current group. The department’s facilities allow echocardiography, CT coronary angiography and a diagnostic angiography lab. Although not provided at present, our DHB is progressing a project to commence pacemaker implantation, cardiac MRI and percutaneous coronary intervention locally.
The cardiology service is based at Hawke’s Bay Fallen Soldiers Memorial Hospital, Hastings. A 364 bed regional hospital providing core services including most medical and surgical specialties, for a diverse population of 162,000. In addition, outreach services are provided at rural and community based facilities across the region. We have strong links with Wellington Hospital for tertiary services not delivered on site, which currently includes interventional cardiology and cardiothoracic surgery.
There is a strong collegial approach with the wider internal medicine team, made up of 30 physicians across 12 specialties, and a commitment to providing education and pastoral care to our staff.
At Hawke’s Bay District Health Board we believe in the strength of a diverse and inclusive workforce, to help us achieve the best outcomes for our patients and the communities in which we operate and serve. Our values are He kauanuanu – Respect, Ākina – Improvement, Raranga te tira – Teamwork and Tauwhiro – Care.
We have no doubt that you’ll love everything Hawke’s Bay has to offer; an environment and work/life balance that is second to none. Situated on the east coast of the North Island, you’ll enjoy the stunning climate and beaches; a wide range of sporting and leisure opportunities; art, wine, food and culture.
This is your chance to develop your career, enjoy the benefits of a fantastic region and achieve a desirable work life balance.
The successful applicant should have FRACP (or equivalent) with specialist training in cardiology and be registered (or is eligible for registration) as a specialist with the Medical Council of New Zealand.
