The Royal College of Surgeons is in the heart of Edinburgh’s Old Town, a bustling, quirky area full of history. We have been part of this area of town since the 1600s and have been resident in our current location since 1832. We are considered one of the oldest surgical corporations in the world.
The first building you encounter on entering our Quarter is the impressive Playfair Building which dates back to the early 1800s. On either side of the Playfair Building are the contemporary Quincentenary and Prince Philip Buildings. The map on the left illustrates the close proximity of all three spaces which can be utilised separately or in conjunction with one another.
The most cutting-edge addition to the Quarter is our hotel, Ten Hill Place, which was extended and refurbished to a high-standard in 2018. Providing excellent accommodation as well as a stylish bar and restaurant, the hotel’s peaceful and relaxing environment provides the perfect retreat for rest and recuperation following a busy conference day.
