National Clinical Impact Awards (NCIA) 2025
Application Window Now Open
The 2025 National Clinical Impact Awards (NCIA) are now open for applications and will close on Tuesday 27 May at 17:00 BST.
The awards are open to NHS consultant doctors and dentists, those on an NHS consultant or academic contract, and those who are registered on the GMC or GDC specialist list. The College encourages applications from Fellows and Members in good standing in England and Wales.
The awards offer applicants the opportunity to apply for and earn higher recognition without the need to secure lower-level awards first. They are designed to celebrate and reward innovative approaches to clinical care, recognising those whose work has a broader, positive impact on national healthcare and ultimately improves patient outcomes.
Since 2022, changes to the programme have increased the number of awards each year, encouraging individuals to actively engage in teaching, training, and research - valuable activities that can further elevate your career. The awards are non-pensionable and they are typically granted for a five-year period, offering lasting recognition.
Applications cover the following domains:
Service delivery and development
Leadership
Education, training, and people development
Innovation and research
Additional national impact
Note: There is no longer a requirement to gain citations from National Nominating Organisations (NNO), such as SCTS or Royal Colleges.
