DESCRIPTION:\n\nProgramme\n\nSCTS has an established role in education within Cardiothoracic Specialty.\n\nIn recognition of the peculiar nature of training in Congenital Cardiac Surgery and the dedication of clinical fellows in providing service within the CHD Centres, SCTS Education is supporting the organisation and attendance of a dedicated Congenital Heart Surgery Hands-on Course.\n\nTopics: \n\nSurgical techniques to address LVOTO (subaortic, aortic, supraortic stenosis). Including Ross operation on piglets and pigs hearts\n\nPreparation materials will be distributed ahead of the course\n\nAttendees: CHD Clinical Fellows, Trust doctors and NTN. \n\nPlease note that this course is only open to those who have not attended previously.\n\nFees: No fees to be paid for course attendance (£200 refundable deposit required to secure a place on the course only), with accommodation for 1 night and meals: 1 supper, 1 breakfast, 1 lunch and coffee breaks.\n\nSCTS membership: Active Membership to SCTS is not required, but we encourage application.\n\nCourse Directors: Prof Attilio Lotto, Mr Shafi Mussa and Mr Nabil Hussain\n\nFaculty: Mr Mohamed Nasser, Mr Adrian Crucean\n\nStations:  \n\nAnatomy demonstration of the AV and Subaortic area and the PV and RVOT in preparation for the Ross operationSubaortic exposure and septal myectomyAV repair by commissurotomy and leaflet resuspensionSupraortic pantaloon patch aortic enlargementSubaortic tunnel and modified Ross operationRoss Operation \n\n
