DESCRIPTION:\n\nSCTS has an established role in education within Cardiothoracic Specialty.\n\nIn recognition of the peculiar nature of training in Congenital Cardiac Surgery and the dedication of clinical fellows in providing service within the CHD Centres, the SCTS is supporting the organisation and attendance to the first dedicated Congenital Heart Surgery Hands-on Course.\n\nTopic: Surgical techniques to address LVOTO (subaortic, aortic, supraortic stenosis)\n\nIncluding Ross operation on piglets and pigs hearts\n\nPreparation materials will be distributed ahead of the course\n\nAttendees: CHD Clinical Fellows, Trust doctors and NTN\n\nFees: No fees to be paid for course attendance, accommodation for 1 night and meals: 1 supper, 1 breakfast 1 lunch and coffee breaks.\n\nSCTS membership: Active Membership to SCTS is not required, but we encourage application\n\nCourse Director: Prof Attilio Lotto\n\nFaculty: Mr Ramesh Kutty, Mr Mohamed Nasser, Mr Jonathan McGuinness, Mr Adrian Crucean, Dr. Anusha Jega\n\nCOURSE PROGRAMME:\n\n                        Thursday 9th June\n\n 13:00 – registration\n\n13:30 – introduction\n\n14:00 – 18:00 1st Wet lab session            \n\n20:00 meal\n\nFriday 10th June\n\n08:00 breakfast\n\n08:30 – 12:30 2nd Wet lab session\n\n12:30 – 13:00 lunch break\n\n13:00 – 17:00 3rd Wet lab session\n\n17:00 Conclusions – end of the course\n\nStations:    - Anatomy demonstration of the AV and Subaortic area and the PV and RVOT in preparation for the Ross operation\n\n                   - Subaortic exposure and septal myectomy\n\n                   - AV repair by commissurotomy and leaflet resuspension\n\n                  - Supraortic pantaloon patch aortic enlargement\n\n                   - Subaortic tunnel and modified Ross operation\n\n                   - Ross Operation\n\nWe would like to thank our industry partner, Medtronic, for sponsoring this course.\n\n
